Chapter 6 of 6

The Secret Will That Stopped My Sister's Million Dollar Wedding

A New Beginning From The Ashes

An hour later, the grand wedding hall stood completely empty and quiet. The flower arrangements dropped white petals onto the clean oak floor, and the organ music was long gone. Arthur sat on a wooden bench near the main entrance, holding a cup of hot black coffee in his old, tired hands. He looked up as Hannah walked over, her leather boots stepping softly on the hardwood.

Arthur: Hannah... I know saying sorry will never fix ten years of neglect and pain.

Hannah: You let Eleanor control your mind, Grandfather. You stopped looking for the truth.

Arthur: I was weak and tired after your mother passed away. I failed you completely.

Hannah: You can fix part of it today by helping me restore mother's name to the business.

Arthur nodded slowly, wiping a tear from his eye with the back of his trembling hand. He pulled a heavy gold pen from his tuxedo pocket and placed it on top of the original estate document. He looked at Hannah with genuine respect, seeing his late daughter's strong spirit alive inside her eyes.

Arthur: The entire estate, the mansion, and the family trust fund are yours by right.

Hannah: I will use the money to set up a charity foundation in my mother's memory.

Arthur: She would be so very proud of the strong woman you became today, child.

Victoria walked out of the side bridal room carrying a small gym bag filled with her personal clothes. Her bridal makeup was completely washed away, and she wore plain grey sweatpants and an oversized hoodie. She looked at Hannah for a long moment, showing no more anger, only deep defeat and shame.

Victoria: The divorce lawyer says my mother will face five years in federal prison.

Hannah: She chose to break the law, Victoria. Actions always have real consequences.

Victoria: Can I at least stay in the guest house until I find a small job?

Hannah: You can stay for thirty days, but you will pay rent just like everybody else.

Victoria lowered her head and walked quietly out the front doors into the afternoon sunlight. Hannah stepped over to the high arched window and looked out at the rolling green hills of the estate property. She slipped her mother's blue sapphire ring onto her right ring finger, feeling its comfortable weight. For the first time in ten years, the heavy cloud of injustice was completely lifted from her life.

Arthur: What will you do first as the new head of the estate, Hannah?

Hannah: First, I am going to open the doors of this grand hall to people who actually need help.

Arthur: That is exactly what your mother would have done with her legacy.

Hannah looked up at the blue sky above the grand oak hall with a soft, content smile. She had walked into the wedding dressed in plain jeans and leather boots, facing power and wealth without fear. She had restored her mother's honor, reclaimed her rightful inheritance, and proved that truth will always prevail against greed.
