Chapter 1 of 6
The Secret Will That Stopped My Sister's Million Dollar Wedding
The Unwelcome Guest Arrives Unannounced
The morning sun poured through the high arched windows of the grand hall. Hardwood oak floors gleamed under the soft yellow glow of crystal chandeliers hanging from the white ceiling. The air smelled of fresh roses, expensive perfumes, and catered roast dinner. Over two hundred guests dressed in dark suits and silk dresses sat quietly in neat rows. They were gathered to watch Victoria marry into one of the richest families in the state. Everything about the scene projected wealth, status, and perfection.
Victoria stood near the altar in a custom white gown that cost more than a family car. Her stepmother, Eleanor, smoothed down the lace train with a smug smile on her painted face. Beside them stood Arthur, the elderly patriarch of the family business empire, looking regal in his fitted black tuxedo. He adjusted his silk bowtie and checked his gold watch. The music played softly as the minister raised his hands to begin the formal wedding service.
Victoria: Today is going to be the absolute best day of my life.
Eleanor: You deserve every single bit of this luxury, my sweet daughter.
Arthur: Let us proceed before the evening heat rolls over the valley.
Suddenly, the heavy double doors at the back of the grand oak hall creaked open. The sharp sound echoed against the tall cream walls, cutting through the romantic organ music. A young woman stepped into the doorway, framed by the bright midday sun behind her. She did not wear a bridesmaid dress or silk gown. Instead, she wore plain blue denim jeans, a simple black tank top, and worn leather boots. Her hair was pulled back in a loose pony tail, showing subtle freckles across her nose.
The entire room went dead silent. Heads turned slowly toward the back entrance as faint whispers broke out among the guests. Eleanor gasped loudly, grabbing Arthur’s arm with manicured fingers. Victoria’s face twisted into instant fury as her hands squeezed her bridal bouquet until the flower stems snapped.
Victoria: What is she doing here right now?
Eleanor: Security should have kept that common trash off the property grounds!
Hannah: Stand down, Eleanor. I am not leaving until I speak.
Hannah walked down the center aisle with slow, deliberate steps. Her heavy boots made a firm thudding sound on the polished wood floor. She looked neither left nor right at the staring wealthy guests. Her eyes remained locked on her grandfather Arthur and her half-sister Victoria. Ten years of cold exclusion and quiet pain pressed down on her chest, but her chin remained held high.
Victoria: You are ruining my wedding!
Hannah: You ruined my entire life, Victoria, so we are even now.
Victoria: Everyone here knows you don't belong here!
Eleanor: Get out before I have the police arrest you for trespassing!
Hannah stopped just three feet from the altar steps. She looked at Eleanor's expensive diamond necklace, then at Victoria's flawless gown. She remembered living in a cold basement apartment while her half-sister received private schooling and sports cars. She remembered the day her mother Clara died in the hospital while Eleanor took control of the family bank accounts. Hannah took a deep breath, reaching deep into the front pocket of her worn black jeans.
Hannah: Call the police if you want, but you will want to read this first.
