Chapter 2 of 6

The Secret Will That Stopped My Sister's Million Dollar Wedding

A Sealed Envelope Breaks Silence

The tension inside the grand hall felt as tight as a stretched steel cable. Nobody moved, and even the minister looked unsure of whether to step away. Arthur took a step forward, his polished leather shoes clicking softly on the floor. His old eyes studied Hannah’s calm face with a mix of confusion and sudden worry. He had ignored Hannah for a decade because Eleanor convinced him the girl was rebellious and uncaring.

Arthur: Hannah, this is a sacred ceremony for our family business image.

Hannah: This concern involves the family business more than you know, Grandfather.

Eleanor: Do not listen to her lies, Arthur, she only wants money!

Hannah: I want what was stolen from my mother ten years ago.

Hannah pulled a thick, faded brown paper envelope from her pocket. The edges were slightly creased from being kept close to her chest all morning. The envelope bore a gold wax seal stamped with an official law firm logo. Eleanor’s face visibly drained of color the second her eyes landed on that gold stamp. Her hands started trembling against her silk dress, though she tried hard to hide it.

Victoria: Mom, what is that paper she is holding?

Eleanor: It is nothing, sweetie, just an old scam to steal our spotlight!

Hannah: This envelope contains the original, unedited last will and testament of Clara.

Arthur moved past Victoria and stepped down to the lower level of the altar. He reached out his right hand toward Hannah, his fingers showing a faint shake. Hannah did not flinch or hand it over right away. She held the envelope firmly, looking directly into the old man's pale blue eyes.

Hannah: Mother gave this to her personal attorney before she entered the hospital.

Arthur: We signed the final court settlement papers years ago, child.

Hannah: You signed papers that Eleanor forged with her high-priced divorce lawyer.

A collective gasp rippled across the wedding hall. Several guests leaned forward in their wooden chairs to whisper behind their hands. The groom stood near the flower arch, looking deeply uncomfortable as he shifted his weight. His wealthy parents in the front row exchanged sharp, angry looks with each other.

Eleanor: That is slander! My legal team handled everything according to state law!

Hannah: Your legal team hid the genuine estate trust fund documents in a vault!

Arthur: Hand me the document, Hannah. Let me look at it myself.

Hannah slid the heavy envelope into Arthur’s hands. The paper rustled softly in the silent room as Arthur broke the wax seal. He pulled out three thick pages of official legal parchment stamped by the state superior court. His breath hitched as his eyes scanned down to the bottom line of the final page.

Arthur: This is her mother's authentic signature...

Hannah: Read the clause about the inheritance and the family house, Grandfather.
