Chapter 3 of 6
The Pregnant Heiress Was Pushed Down The Marble Stairs
The Fall Down White Marble
Sarah fell backward into the open air above the grand staircase, letting out a sharp, terrified scream. Her body tumbled down the steep flight of wooden and marble steps, striking each ledge with terrible force. Guests in the foyer below stopped talking instantly as the sudden commotion shattered the elegant atmosphere of the party. Mark turned his head just in time to see his pregnant wife rolling down the hard steps uncontrollably. A loud, heavy impact echoed through the vast mansion as Sarah landed hard on the cold marble floor.
Sarah: Ahhh! My baby! Someone help me!
Mark: Sarah! Oh my God, Sarah!
The entire foyer erupted into total chaos as people began screaming and running toward the base of the stairs. Victoria stood at the top landing, looking down at the terrible scene with wide, unblinking eyes. Her breathing was fast and shallow, but she did not show a single drop of remorse or regret. Instead, she slowly walked down the steps toward the fallen woman, pointing her finger angrily into the air.
Victoria: You got what you deserved! You stole everything that belonged to me!
House Maid: Somebody call an ambulance right now! She is bleeding!
Sarah lay on her side on the bright white marble floor, clutching her belly with trembling, weak hands. The impact had knocked the air completely out of her lungs, leaving her gasping for breath in deep pain. A tiny trail of red blood appeared at the corner of her lips as she struggled to stay conscious. Despite the sharp agony shooting through her lower back, her instinct as a mother kicked in instantly. She pulled her mobile phone out from her small clutch bag on the floor with shaking fingers.
Sarah: Detective... send everyone... now... please hurry...
Detective Davies: Sarah? Stay on the line! We are on our way right now!
Mark shoved his way through the gathering crowd of terrified guests, his eyes wide with absolute terror. He dropped to his knees right beside Sarah, taking her cold hand into his warm palm with tears forming. He looked up at Victoria, who was standing just a few feet away with a bitter grin on her face. The contrast between Sarah's pain and Victoria's cold malice made Mark's blood run completely ice cold with rage. He had spent years trying to keep peace in the family, but this crossed every boundary of humanity.
Mark: What did you do to her, Victoria? What did you just do?!
Victoria: She tripped on her own long dress! It was an absolute accident!
House Maid: That is a lie! I saw her push Mrs. Sarah from the top of the stairs!
Victoria: Shut up, you stupid servant! Nobody asked for your opinion!
Sarah held Mark's hand tightly, her voice barely above a painful whisper as she looked up into his eyes. She knew that every second counted for the survival of their unborn child in this medical emergency. Down the driveway, the faint sound of distant police sirens began to echo through the night air. The wealthy guests stood back in stunned silence, watching the terrible tragedy unfold before their very eyes. The bright marble floor that was meant for celebration was now a crime scene filled with fear.
