Chapter 3 of 6
A Father Returns Home Early and Finds His Daughter Scrubbing Floors
Uncovering the Truth
Mark waited until late evening when the house grew quiet and dark.
He sat at his desk reviewing every financial document he could find.
He called his close friend David, who worked as a top family lawyer.
David: Mark, it is late, is everything alright at home?
Mark: I need your legal advice immediately regarding my marriage.
David: What happened between you and Victoria?
Mark: She has been abusing my daughter and stealing money behind my back.
David: Bring all bank records and contract copies to my office tomorrow morning.
Mark thanked his friend and ended the call before rubbing his tired eyes.
He remembered signing a prenuptial agreement before marrying Victoria two years ago.
The contract protected his assets and his daughter's college trust fund completely.
He pulled out the blue folder from his bottom desk drawer carefully.
He opened the folder and began reading through the specific clauses on page four.
A short note in blue ink was tucked inside the back folder pocket.
It was a receipt for a private safe deposit box at a downtown bank.
The receipt was made out in Victoria's maiden name three months ago.
Mark took a picture of the receipt with his phone camera instantly.
The next morning, Mark drove to David's office in the downtown legal district.
David reviewed the bank statements and the prenup contract with intense concentration.
David: This is a clear breach of your prenuptial agreement, Mark.
Mark: Will this protect Lily's trust fund from being touched by her?
David: Absolutely, but we must file for divorce and asset freezing today.
Mark: I want her out of my house before the end of this week.
David: We will serve her with the legal papers tomorrow morning at breakfast.
Mark felt a strong sense of relief wash over his tired shoulders.
He drove back to the house with a clear plan in his mind.
When he arrived home, he saw a expensive sports car parked outside.
A strange man was standing in the foyer talking softly to Victoria.
Mark: Who is this man in my home, Victoria?
Victoria turned around quickly, her face turning pale with sudden panic.
Victoria: He is just an estate manager I hired to look at the house.
Mark: You had no permission to hire anyone for this estate.
Man: I think I should leave right now, ma'am.
The strange man hurried out the door without looking back once.
Mark stared at Victoria with cold determination in his eyes.
