Chapter 5 of 6

When My Wealthy Husband Poured Wine On My Face At Dinner

The Price Of Greed

Attorney Miller slid a thick stack of papers across the long mahogany table, stopping right in front of where Mark stood breathing heavily. The top document bore the seal of the state family court, clearly marked as an emergency petition for divorce and asset freeze based on breach of marital contract. Mark picked up the papers with trembling hands, scanning through the pages while his face turned completely pale under the bright fluorescent lights. Every perk, every luxury car, and every property he thought he owned was explicitly listed under Sarah's family trust control.

The prenup he had signed ten years ago was rock solid, written by top attorneys who had insured that not a single dollar of Sarah's money could be stolen by an unfaithful partner. The video footage from the luxury restaurant had already been subpoenaed and submitted to the court, providing undeniable proof of Mark's unprovoked assault and public humiliation of his wife. Mark dropped the papers back onto the table, looking at Sarah with a desperate mix of anger, fear, and sudden panic as the reality of his situation hit him.

Mark: Sarah, please... we can talk about this privately. We don't need to ruin everything we built over a small mistake!

Sarah: A small mistake? You poured red wine on my face in front of fifty people to make your mistress laugh.

Mark: I was angry! You insulted my pride in front of everyone! I didn't mean to do it!

Sarah: You meant every second of it, Mark. You thought I was too weak to fight back against your bullying.

Elena: Mark, you told me you were going to buy me that penthouse apartment next week!

Sarah: He can barely buy himself a hotel room tonight, Elena. I suggest you go find another target for your greed.

Elena let out a frustrated scream, turning on her heel and marching out of the boardroom without looking back at Mark even once. She realized instantly that staying with him was a sinking ship that would yield nothing but bad press and unpaid bills. Mark didn't even try to follow her; his eyes were glued to Sarah, begging for a mercy he had never shown her during their marriage. He stepped closer to the table, resting his hands on the chair across from her as his knees began to shake with fear.

Mark: Sarah, I made a terrible mistake. I will break up with her completely! I will go to counseling! Just don't take the company from me!

Sarah: You didn't make a mistake, Mark. You showed me who you truly were when you thought I had no power.

Attorney Miller: Mr. Davis, you have two hours to clear your personal items from the office under security supervision.

Mark: You are kicking me out of my own office? I spent ten years working in this building!

Sarah: You spent ten years living off my father's legacy while treating me like a convenience. That ends today.

The security guards stepped into the room, placing their hands on their belts as they stood behind Mark, waiting for him to move. Mark looked around the room, meeting the cold, unsympathetic eyes of every board member who had once clapped for his speeches. He realized that without Sarah's money and family backing, he was just a man in an expensive suit with no real qualifications or fortune of his own. His reputation in the city's elite business circles was completely destroyed, and no bank would ever offer him a commercial loan again.
