Chapter 2 of 6

When My Wealthy Husband Poured Wine On My Face At Dinner

A Glass Of Cold Wine

The dark liquid flew through the air in a heavy splash, striking Sarah straight across her face and drenching her beige suit in seconds. Cold red wine soaked into her hair, ran down her cheeks, and ruined her silk collar as the heavy glass clinked back onto the table. A chorus of loud gasps echoed through the upscale restaurant as guests at surrounding tables stood up in complete shock. Elena let out a sharp, cruel giggle, pulling out her phone to capture the moment, while Mark stood tall with his chest puffed out like a conqueror.

Sarah sat frozen for a brief second, the stinging wine trickling into her eyes as the sheer humiliation tried to crush her spirit. She could feel the icy liquid soaking through her clothes, but inside her chest, a sudden fire ignited that wiped away every bit of sadness she had felt moments ago. She lowered her head slightly, blinking away the drops, and pulled a clean white napkin from the table to wipe her eyes. The entire room went dead silent, waiting to see if the humiliated woman would break down and cry right there on the carpet.

Mark: That should teach you to keep your mouth shut about my personal affairs in public.

Elena: Look at her suit! It looks like a wet rag now. Let's go to another place, Mark.

Sarah: You really think you can humiliate me and just walk away clean, Mark?

Mark: What are you going to do? Sue me? My legal team will run circles around you.

Sarah placed the wine-stained napkin on the table and stood up slowly from her chair, drawing herself up to her full height. She didn't look broken, nor did she look like a victim begging for mercy. She stepped around the small round table, placing her body right in front of Mark so there was barely an inch of space between them. Mark tried to maintain his arrogant sneer, but the intense, cold fury radiating from Sarah's eyes made his breath catch in his throat.

Before Mark could take a step backward, Sarah swung her hand back and delivered a blinding, hard slap directly across his right cheek. The loud crack sounded like a gunshot in the quiet room, echoing off the high ceilings and making several diners jump in surprise. The force of the blow turned Mark's head sharply to the left, knocking his expensive designer glasses right off his nose onto the carpet. He stumbled back two steps, clutching his bright red, stinging face in total disbelief as his jaw hung open.

Sarah: You will regret ever crossing me, Mark!

Mark: You... you actually hit me! Are you crazy? Everyone saw that!

Elena: Mark! Are you okay? You crazy woman, he can have you arrested for assault!

Sarah: Tell the police to check the security cameras first. He assaulted me with a drink before I defended myself.

The restaurant manager hurried over, his face pale as he looked between the dripping wet woman and the executive holding his swollen face. Sarah didn't wait for anyone to offer empty apologies or clean up the mess. She grabbed her leather designer purse off the chair, squared her shoulders, and held her chin high as she looked Mark down one last time. He looked pathetic standing there in his expensive suit, holding his red cheek while his girlfriend tried to pick up his glasses off the floor.

Sarah: I gave you ten years of my life, Mark. You just threw them away for a few minutes of feeling powerful.

Mark: Get out of here! You're ruined in this town after tonight!

Sarah: We will see who is ruined when my divorce lawyer calls your office tomorrow morning at eight.

Sarah turned on her heels, her high heels clicking firmly against the hard marble floor as she walked briskly toward the grand exit. She didn't hide her face, nor did she rush like someone who was ashamed of what had happened. Diners watched her with a mix of respect and awe as she pushed open the heavy glass doors and stepped out into the cool night air. The driver holding the door for her offered a quick, sympathetic look, but Sarah simply smiled softly, knowing that the battle for her life and fortune had only just begun.
