Chapter 3 of 6

The Spoiled Son Demanded Her Money Until She Revealed Everything

A Cold Promise Made

Security guards in black suits hurried across the hardwood floor toward the dramatic scene.

Clara raised her hand calmly, stopping the head security officer in his tracks with authority.

Clara: You do not need to touch me, because I am leaving on my own terms.

Mark: That is right, run away just like you always do when things get difficult!

Clara: I am not running away, Mark.

Clara stepped closer to Mark, looking him directly in the eyes without a single tear.

Her face showed faint scratches from the flying glass fragments, but her gaze was solid ice.

Clara: Tomorrow, you'll be begging for my forgiveness.

Mark: You have nothing, Clara, absolutely nothing to threaten us with!

Eleanor: Let her leave, Mark, she is simply trying to save face after her humiliation.

Clara turned around gracefully and walked past the shocked crowd of corporate investors.

She held her chin high as she pushed open the heavy mahogany double doors of the hall.

The cool evening air hit her face as she stepped out onto the grand marble driveway.

A sleek black luxury sedan was waiting for her near the valet standing station.

The driver opened the rear door immediately, bowing slightly as Clara stepped inside the vehicle.

She sat back against the leather seat, pulling her smartphone from her small evening purse.

Her fingers moved quickly across the screen as the driver pulled out into city traffic.

Clara: Dial Arthur Vance immediately.

The phone rang twice before the deep, confident voice of her top estate lawyer answered.

Arthur: Good evening, Clara, did the banquet scene unfold exactly as we anticipated?

Clara: They took the bait completely in front of every major shareholder and board member.

Arthur: Excellent, all court filings for the emergency injunction are officially ready for tomorrow morning.

Clara: Make sure the forensic audit reports are attached to the front of every folder.

Arthur: The judge has already signed the temporary freeze order on all corporate bank accounts.

Clara closed her eyes and took a deep, steady breath as the city lights passed by.

The fight for her father's honor was finally moving into the ultimate stage of justice.
