Chapter 4 of 6
The Secret Hidden Behind The Locked Dallas Mansion Door
Uncovering The Paper Trail
The sound of heavy police sirens grew louder outside the front gates of the mansion estate.
Mark rushed toward the hallway, but two police officers stepped inside the main foyer quickly.
"Sir, keep your hands where we can see them right now," an officer commanded firmly.
Mark stopped moving and held his hands up in the air with a bitter expression.
Claire walked out of the formal dining room and greeted the officers near the staircase.
"Thank you for coming so fast," Claire said as she pointed toward the hallway floor.
"Is everyone uninjured in this house?" the lead officer asked while checking the hallway.
"He threw a heavy glass plate at me and threatened my life," Claire reported clearly.
Evelyn walked out into the foyer with her hands folded tight in front of her chest.
"Officer, my son has hidden illegal financial documents downstairs in the cellar," Evelyn stated.
Mark turned his head fast and glared at his mother with cold hatred in his eyes.
"She is confused and lying about our private estate affairs!" Mark shouted to the police.
The second officer stepped forward and carefully placed handcuffs around Mark's wrists behind him.
"We will check the premises to ensure everyone is completely safe," the officer stated calmly.
Claire led the police down the carpeted hallway toward the basement entrance door together.
Evelyn followed closely behind while explaining the passcode sequence she had hidden away.
"The digital key pad code is the date his father passed away," Evelyn revealed softly.
Mark shouted from the front foyer, but the officer escorted him out to the cruiser.
Claire watched as the officer entered the code onto the heavy keypad wall panel.
A sharp mechanical click echoed through the dark hallway as the steel door unlocked smoothly.
The officer pushed the metal door open to reveal a brightly lit underground room interior.
Inside sat stacks of legal file folders, property deeds, and heavy metal storage boxes.
Claire stepped inside and saw her own family name listed on several large corporate files.
"This was never just about a wine cellar," Claire said quietly as she looked around.
