Chapter 2 of 6

She Was Thrown Out Until They Saw Her VIP Pass

A Sudden Clash

Charlotte felt her face burning with intense anger as Victoria sneered down at her. The rich woman stepped even closer, her golden dress shimmering under the bright sun. She reached out her manicured hand as if to shove Charlotte backwards off the top step. Charlotte's jaw tightened, and her skin flushed red from the humiliation being forced upon her in front of strangers. She had tolerated people looking down on her family for years because they lacked money. But today was different, and she refused to let this woman push her around like dirty trash on the street.

Charlotte: How dare you talk to me like that!

Victoria: I talk to peasants however I want. Now get lost!

Victoria raised her hand again, attempting to grab Charlotte by the shoulder of her worn jacket. Charlotte did not wait for the woman's hand to make contact. In one quick, sudden movement, Charlotte planted her left foot firmly on the stone floor and kicked her right leg forward. Her shoe hit Victoria's knee with solid force. The surprise attack caught Victoria completely off balance in her thin high heels. Victoria let out a loud gasp as her feet slipped out from under her, sending her flying backward onto the floor.

The sudden thud echoed off the stone walls of the entrance porch. Victoria hit the ground hard, her polished black and gold dress fanning out around her like a broken umbrella. Her designer handbag flew from her grip, spilling expensive lipstick and compact mirrors across the oak threshold inside. The crowd of wealthy guests below gasped loudly in absolute shock. Several women covered their mouths with gloved hands, while men stared with wide eyes at the sight of the prominent socialite sprawling on the floor. A low drone of tense murmurs filled the warm afternoon air as everyone paused, waiting to see what would happen next.

Charlotte stood tall over the fallen woman, her chest rising and falling with heavy breaths. She did not look scared, nor did she run away from the scene she had just caused. Instead, she coolly reached up and adjusted the dark shoulder strap of her canvas bag, settling it neatly against her shoulder. The guard stared with his mouth wide open, completely frozen by what he had just witnessed. Nobody expected a young girl in ripped jeans to throw a millionaire onto the ground at a high-class event. Charlotte ignored the groaning woman on the floor and turned her full attention directly toward the stunned guard.

Charlotte: Please check my invitation before judging me.

Security Guard: I... yes, right away, ma'am.

Victoria: Arrest her! She assaulted me! Call the police right now!

Charlotte: Keep quiet and let him do his job, Victoria.

Victoria struggled to sit up on the smooth hardwood floor just inside the door frame. Her sleek hair had come loose from her perfect bun, and a large smudge of dust marked the back of her expensive dress. She glared at Charlotte with pure hatred, her fingers trembling as she pointed at the guard. But Charlotte calmly reached into her front pocket and pulled out a clean, heavy paper envelope. She handed it over to the trembling guard, who accepted it with double hands as if it were made of fragile glass.
