Chapter 3 of 6
A Maid Saved His Life Before He Drank The Poison
The Secret Video on Display
The dispatcher answered the emergency call on the very first ring cycle.
David spoke with a calm and steady voice that echoed through the room.
David: I need emergency police officers at the Vance mansion right away.
David: We have an attempted poisoning incident with direct video evidence on site.
Victoria let out a loud dramatic gasp and dropped her leather designer clutch purse.
The contents of her purse spilled across the dark hardwood floor beneath her feet.
A small glass bottle rolled out from the bag and stopped near the attorney.
The attorney leaned down carefully and picked up the bottle using a napkin.
Inside the bottle were three more white pills that matched the video recording exactly.
Attorney: This evidence makes the situation very clear for the authorities, Victoria.
Victoria: That bottle does not belong to me and was planted in my bag!
Sarah: I saw you take that exact bottle from your bedroom cabinet earlier today.
Sarah: I was cleaning the hallway when you locked your bedroom door in a hurry.
Victoria glared at Sarah with pure hatred radiating from her dark eyes.
Victoria: You quiet little snitch, you destroyed everything I worked so hard for!
David: Do not speak another word to her, Victoria!
David stepped firmly in front of Sarah to shield her from Victoria's anger.
He could feel Sarah's body shaking with fear behind his broad shoulders.
He knew how much bravery it took for a maid to confront a wealthy owner.
The guests at the table began whispering quietly among themselves in total shock.
They had all believed Victoria was a devoted and loving family member.
Now they saw her true nature revealed right in front of their eyes.
David looked down at the puddle of juice still dripping off the table edge.
The white tablecloth was stained a deep orange color from the spilled liquid.
He realized how close he had come to falling victim to her dark plot.
If Sarah had delayed by even three seconds, he would have swallowed the pill.
He turned his head slightly to address the family attorney standing beside him.
David: Secure the front gates so no vehicles can leave the property grounds.
Attorney: I will lock down the front gate controls right this second, David.
The attorney hurried out of the dining room toward the main security panel.
Victoria realized that all of her exit routes were being closed off quickly.
She sank down into a nearby leather chair and put her hands over her face.
Victoria: You were going to cut me out of the family trust fund anyway!
Victoria: I devoted my entire youth to your father and got nothing in return!
David: My father left you a multi-million dollar estate allowance in his will!
David: But your endless greed made you want control over everything I owned.
