Chapter 3 of 6
A Groom Accused a Child Until Security Camera Footage revealed Everything
Uncovering The Betrayal
Arthur backed away from the desk as if he was burned.
Arthur: That cannot be right, there must be a system glitch.
Security Guard: The timestamp is synchronized with real time, sir.
Evelyn looked at Arthur with cold disappointment in her clear eyes.
Evelyn: Your mother opened the safe and took the inheritance paper.
Arthur: But why would she put it near Lily's belongings?
Evelyn: Because she never wanted us to get married in September.
Evelyn remembered every subtle comment Martha had made over past months.
Martha had always complained about marrying a mother with a young child.
She wanted Arthur to sign a strict prenup excluding Lily completely.
When Arthur refused, Martha decided to create an unforgivable scandal.
Evelyn: Let us go back into the main hall together, Arthur.
Arthur: Evelyn, please, if this gets out, our family name is ruined.
Evelyn: You had no problem ruining my child's dignity five minutes ago.
She held Lily's small hand firmly and walked back out.
The guests were still standing in groups near the broken glass.
Martha stood near the center while looking calm and perfectly composed.
She held a fresh glass of lemonade in her gloved right hand.
Grandma Martha: Did you satisfy your silly curiosity in the office, Evelyn?
Evelyn: The security video was extremely clear, Martha.
Martha took a slow sip while keeping her head held high.
Grandma Martha: Children make mistakes, but we can forgive her this once.
Evelyn: The video showed you typing the code into the safe at one fifty-five.
The room went completely quiet as every guest turned around instantly.
Martha lowered her glass while her cheeks turned bright red.
Grandma Martha: How dare you accuse me of such nonsense!
Arthur: Mother... I saw the video with my own eyes.
Arthur walked into the center of the hall with a broken expression.
Arthur: You were wearing your golden bracelet while taking the folder.
Arthur: You planted it in Lily's bag when she chased the kitten.
Martha's proud composure cracked into complete and total panic.
Grandma Martha: Arthur, I did it to protect your life's savings!
Grandma Martha: That child is not your blood and never will be!
