Chapter 2 of 5

A Cruel Rich Man Kicked A Poor Boy's Bowl

A Sudden Line Drawn

The dark tinted window of the black sedan rolled down slightly as the car idled smoothly by the curb. Inside sat Sarah, a sharp thirty-four-year-old woman with determination in her eyes, wearing a clean beige trench coat over dark business clothes. She had been observing the busy shopping district from her vehicle while waiting for a critical update on a major case she had been pursuing for over six months. Through the clear front windshield, Sarah saw the whole cruel interaction happen right before her eyes, from the aggressive kick to the little boy's desperate tears on the stone ground.

Sarah felt a strong surge of protective anger burning in her chest as she watched the rich man sneer at the sobbing nine-year-old boy. She did not hesitate for even a single second before pushing her car door open and stepping firmly onto the pavement, her tall leather boots making sharp, rhythmic clicking sounds against the sidewalk. Her long trench coat swished around her legs as she pushed her way through the mindless crowd of shoppers, heading straight toward the tall bully in the designer suit.

Sarah: HEY! LEAVE HIM ALONE!

Her voice echoed loudly across the open storefront, ringing out like a sharp alarm that made several shoppers freeze in their tracks to turn and look. The arrogant man turned around slowly, taking his sweet time as he adjusted the sleeves of his expensive suit jacket. He lowered his shiny sunglasses slightly down the bridge of his red nose, looking Sarah up and down with a condescending smile spread across his narrow face.

Arrogant Man: OR WHAT? YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE ME, LITTLE LADY?

Sarah: Pick up his coins right now and apologize to this child, or you will regret every single breath you take today.

Arrogant Man: Is this a joke? Do you have any idea who I am? I own half the high-rise properties on this block! A street rat like him doesn't belong near my building, and a cheap broad like you shouldn't be speaking to me!

The man took a step closer to Sarah, invading her personal space while pointing a sharp, manicured finger directly at her face. He was much taller than her, and he used his height to try to intimidate her, stepping forward with an aggressive stance that usually made ordinary citizens back down in fear. But Sarah did not flinch, nor did she step backward even half an inch. She stood like a steel beam, her grey eyes locking onto his with an intense focus that made the man's arrogant smile falter for a brief second.

Arrogant Man: Get out of my face before I have my lawyers put you in a financial hole you will never crawl out of!

Sarah: Last chance, pal. On your knees and pick up the boy's money.

Arrogant Man: Go to hell!

The man raised his hand to shove Sarah away, fully expecting her to stumble back into the crowd and leave him alone. But the moment his hand moved forward, Sarah stepped inside his reach with incredible speed. Her hand shot up in a swift, practiced motion, catching him completely off guard before he could even register what was happening. The tension on the busy city sidewalk reached a boiling point as dozens of onlookers gasped out loud, realizing that this situation was about to explode into total chaos right in front of the luxury store.
