Chapter 5 of 6
A Billionaire Father Rescues His Daughter Locked Inside A Pantry
The Price Of Justice
The atmosphere inside the mansion shifted from fear to an unwavering demand for justice. Richard stood tall near the kitchen island, his eyes cold as ice as he stared down the woman he had once trusted with his home and his heart. He reached into his coat pocket, pulled out his smartphone, and tapped the screen quickly to place a call directly to the chief of the local police department. He held the phone to his ear, his voice calm, firm, and filled with absolute authority.
Richard: Chief Miller, this is Richard Sterling. I need officers at my estate immediately. I am pressing charges for child endangerment, false imprisonment, and extortion.
Marsha: Richard, stop! Think about what this will do to our reputation in the news!
Richard: The only thing I care about protecting is my daughter. You are completely finished here.
Marsha began to cry real tears now, but they were tears of pure anger and self-pity, not remorse for what she had done to a helpless child. She tried to grab her expensive coat and leave through the back door, but Thomas stepped firmly into the doorway, blocking her exit with quiet dignity. Within ten short minutes, the loud, wailing sounds of police sirens echoed down the long private driveway of the estate, lighting up the front gates with flashing blue and red lights.
Two uniform officers marched through the grand front entrance of the mansion, guided quickly by the butler into the kitchen area. Richard handed over the security video memory card, the duplicate deadbolt key, and the legal papers that had been dumped on the counter. The officers did not waste any time. They placed heavy steel handcuffs around Marsha's wrists, ignoring her loud complaints and dramatic shouts as they turned her around and escorted her out of the mansion toward the waiting police cruiser.
Marsha: You cannot do this to me! Richard, tell them to let me go!
Richard: Take her away from my family forever.
As the loud sirens slowly faded away down the winding hill, a deep sense of peace finally returned to the vast home. The dangerous cloud that had hung over the estate was completely lifted, leaving behind a clean and honest reality. Richard walked back over to the table where Lily was sitting quietly, her sweet little face looking much brighter now that the chaotic noise had stopped. He pulled up a chair and sat down right beside her, taking her small hand into his large palm.
Thomas walked over quietly, placing a warm plate of fresh cookies and a glass of warm milk on the table for the young girl. He bowed his head respectfully toward Richard, his face filled with genuine emotion and relief that the truth had finally been brought into the light of day.
Butler: I am so deeply sorry, Mr. Sterling, for not stopping this sooner.
Richard: You saved her today, Thomas. You kept your loyalty to this family, and I will never forget it.
Butler: Thank you, sir. I will ensure the home security is fully upgraded tomorrow morning.
