Thomas the butler stepped forward, his aged voice breaking the dramatic stillness of the kitchen. He reached into his inner jacket pocket once again, but this time he did not pull out a key. Instead, he drew out a small digital memory card used in the home's high-definition security camera system. The old man held it out with a steady hand, his face showing a mix of deep regret and absolute resolve. Richard looked at the small black plastic square, then back at the butler's grave eyes.

Richard: What is this, Thomas?

Butler: It is the footage from the hallway camera outside the pantry, sir. I saved it an hour ago.

Marsha: Thomas! You old fool, shut your mouth right now!

Richard: Silence! Thomas, tell me everything that happened before I walked down those stairs.

The butler took a deep breath, standing up tall despite his trembling posture. He explained how Marsha had approached him early that morning, demanding that he turn off the main alarm system and hand over the keys to the master safe inside the study. When the butler refused to break his duty to Mr. Sterling, Marsha had grown furious, threatening to have him fired immediately as soon as she and Richard were officially married. She wanted full access to the family trust fund documents and the estate deeds that were kept secure in the home.

When Thomas still stood his ground, Marsha decided to create a massive crisis to distract everyone and force Richard into a state of total chaos. She lured little Lily into the soundproof storage room under the false pretense of finding a favorite toy, and then pushed the heavy door shut behind the child. She locked the deadbolt tight, hiding the key in her own designer handbag, intending to let the child sit in the dark for hours while she pressured Richard to sign emergency authority papers during the panic.

Marsha: That is a lie! He is trying to save his own job because he left the door open!

Richard: Give me your handbag, Marsha. Give it to me right now!

Marsha: No! You have no right to search my personal things!

Richard did not hesitate. He walked across the kitchen floor with quick, powerful strides, snatching the expensive maroon leather bag right out of Marsha's hands. She shrieked in anger, reaching out to grab it back, but Richard held it high out of her reach. He unzipped the top pocket and dumped the entire contents out onto the polished granite island. Gold lipsticks, expensive compacts, a thick leather wallet, and a set of legal papers tumbled across the stone surface—along with a duplicate brass key that matched the deadbolt perfectly.

The brass key bounced against the granite with a sharp metallic clatter before rolling to a stop right in front of Marsha. The evidence was absolute, undeniable, and clear as daylight. Marsha took a frantic step backward, her back pressing against the wooden cabinets as she realized that her grand scheme had completely collapsed around her. There were no more lies left to tell, no more fake tears to cry, and no way to escape the fury of the father standing before her.

Richard: You trapped my daughter in a dark box for money!

Marsha: Richard, please! I love you! I was just stressed about our future wedding!

Richard: You do not love anyone except yourself and my bank account!
