Chapter 3 of 5

Woman Rips Bride Dress And Discovers Missing Child Identity

A Hidden Family Past

The atmosphere inside the wedding hall grew incredibly thick with tension as Evelyn continued to share her story. Mark led Sarah and his weeping mother into a private bride room off the main hallway to escape the staring eyes of their two hundred guests. The private room was furnished with luxury velvet sofas and bright mirrors that reflected the chaotic scene. Sarah sat down on the edge of a soft sofa, holding a warm coat over her torn gown. Mark stood near the locked wooden door, his hands resting on his hips while he tried to wrap his mind around the wild situation.

Evelyn pulled out her phone with trembling fingers and began searching through old digital photo files saved in her cloud drive. She selected a faded picture taken twenty-four years ago and held the screen right in front of Sarah's eyes. In the photo, a young Evelyn held a tiny baby wrapped in a pink blanket. Around the baby's neck was the exact same jade pendant necklace, glowing under a lamp. On the baby's exposed shoulder, the distinct butterfly-shaped birthmark was clearly visible, identical to the one on Sarah's spine.

Evelyn: Look at the picture, Sarah. Look at the date stamp on the bottom corner.

Sarah: This... this looks just like me when I was little.

Mark: How could Father do something so cruel to our own family?

Evelyn: He was trying to protect his inheritance and hide money from his corporate lawyers!

Sarah: He threw me away like trash just to save his trust fund estate?

Evelyn lowered her head in profound shame, tears dripping onto her designer dress. She explained how her late husband had faked the death certificate with the help of a corrupt clinic doctor. He had paid off a staff member to drop the young girl off near a public station far away in another state. Evelyn had spent millions of dollars on private investigators over the years, but her husband had covered his tracks with endless fake paperwork. She had spent two long decades believing her beautiful daughter was buried in a quiet grave, carrying deep grief that slowly turned her heart cold and bitter.

Sarah stared at the glowing phone screen while tears finally overflowed from her own eyes. All her life, she had believed her biological parents simply did not want her. She had endured cold winters in crowded foster homes, working low-paying jobs since age sixteen just to survive. The woman who had spent the last year insulting her humble background was actually her biological mother. The bitter ironies of her painful life hit her all at once, making it hard to catch her breath.

Sarah: I spent my whole life thinking nobody loved me enough to keep me!

Evelyn: I searched for you every single day until my heart completely broke, my child!

Mark: Wait... if Sarah is your daughter, then she is my biological older sister!

Sarah: What? What are you saying right now, Mark?

Mark: We can't get married! We are blood relatives!

A heavy, suffocating silence fell over the private room as Mark's words hung in the air like an absolute nightmare. Mark stared at Sarah with wide, horrified eyes as his entire world shattered into pieces. Sarah looked down at her hands, feeling a cold wave of shock wash straight through her veins. The man she loved, the man she was about to marry at the altar, was her younger biological brother. The joyous wedding she had planned for months had instantly transformed into a massive family catastrophe.
