Chapter 3 of 6
Woman Cuts off Free Money and Exposes Her Ungrateful Family
Cutting the Financial Cord
Claire pulled out two shiny black credit cards that were directly connected to her main commercial bank account. These were the very cards her parents used for luxury groceries, fine dining, spa days, and expensive resort vacations. She held the plastic cards high in the air so her father and brother could see them clearly. Her mother gasped sharply, realizing instantly what Claire was planning to do right there on the driveway. From her side pocket, Claire pulled out a small pair of sharp stainless steel scissors she had taken. The family watched in frozen terror as the metal blades aligned over the center of the first card.
With one strong press, the hard plastic snapped in half with a crisp, loud sound that cut through the air. She let the two broken pieces fall straight onto the driveway surface near her brother's expensive leather shoes. She did not hesitate for a second before snapping the second credit card into small pieces as well. The plastic shards bounced off the concrete, resting near the tire of her father's imported luxury car. Her mother let out a desperate cry, covering her mouth with both hands in total shock and horror. Her father stepped forward, his fists clenched tight at his sides as if he wanted to fight her.
Mother: Claire... please don't do this to us! How will we pay the house mortgage?
Claire: You can get jobs, just like I did when I started with nothing.
Father: I am your father! You owe me your whole life, you ungrateful girl!
Claire: I paid off your home loan balance twice over. My debt to you is zero.
Claire reached inside her jacket coat and pulled out a thick, sealed white envelope labeled in dark ink. The front of the envelope had the words Final Payment written across the paper in bold handwriting. She walked over to her father's SUV and placed the heavy envelope smoothly onto the warm hood. The envelope slid across the smooth metal surface, coming to a stop near the front windshield wipers. Inside was a certified legal document from her divorce lawyer and financial team ending all family allowance payouts. It contained the final monthly check along with notice that all utility bills under her name were canceled.
Her brother tried to grab the envelope, but her father pushed him aside to grab it himself with trembling hands. He tore the paper edge open frantically, reading the official legal letter signed by high-powered estate attorneys. His face turned pale as he realized every credit line, trust fund access, and loan agreement was dead. Claire watched his reaction with a steady heart, feeling the heavy burden of financial burden lifting off her shoulders. She had spent years trying to buy their affection, only to receive demands for more cash in return. Now, the absolute truth was exposed out in the open sunlight for everyone to see clearly.
Father: You can't do this legally! We will hire a lawyer and sue you for support!
Claire: Go ahead and try. My legal team is ready for your lawsuit anytime.
Mother: We are your family, Claire! How can you leave us with nothing?
Claire: You had everything, Mom. You just traded it all for my money.
