Chapter 3 of 5
The Rich Groom Slapped Me Before Checking The Trash
The Truth in the Trash
The garden went completely quiet as Elena held her phone up to her ear, keeping her clear eyes fixed right on Carter. The wealthy guests whispered nervously to one another, clearly shocked by the dramatic turn of events unfolding at the reception. Carter’s bride, wearing a massive diamond engagement ring, walked over rapidly with a look of utter panic on her face. She grabbed Carter’s arm tightly, looking between his guilty expression and the rising red mark on Elena’s bruised face. The fairy-tale wedding atmosphere was instantly destroyed, replaced by heavy tension and deep embarrassment for the entire Miller family lineage.
Bride: Carter, tell me you did not actually strike this poor young catering girl!
Carter: It was a huge misunderstanding, darling, I thought she was throwing away food!
Bride: That does not give you the right to put your hands on anyone!
Elena: Yes, operator, I need police officers sent to the Miller Estate catering area immediately.
Carter: Wait, Elena, please hang up the phone! We can settle this privately right now!
Elena ignored his desperate pleas completely, speaking clearly and calmly to the emergency dispatcher on the phone receiver line. She reported the physical assault accurately, giving the exact address of the estate and identifying Carter Miller by his full name. Carter stood helpless, his face turning completely pale as he realized a police cruiser would soon arrive at his wedding. His father, a powerful business CEO, rushed over from the main house with a dark scowl on his aging face. He looked furious at his son for creating such a public and legal disaster on an important family day.
Father: Carter! What in the world did you just do to this young woman?
Carter: Dad, I thought she was sabotaging the catering service, I reacted too quickly!
Father: You fool, you just ruined our family name and committed a serious crime!
Elena: He slapped me across the face in front of dozens of your high-class guests.
Father: Miss, please, my family will pay for all your medical bills and offer a huge settlement!
Elena stood tall, pulling off her white catering apron and folding it neatly over her left arm despite her pain. She looked the powerful old CEO right in the eyes, refusing to be intimidated by their immense wealth or social status. She knew that if she accepted money under the table, Carter would never learn that his violent actions had real consequences. He had used his power to hurt someone smaller than him, and he needed to face the law just like anyone else would. The catering manager walked over quickly, placing a comforting hand on Elena’s shoulder to support her brave decision completely.
Manager: Elena did her job perfectly by stopping contaminated food from reaching your guests.
Carter: I know... I see the insect now... I was completely blind and wrong.
Elena: You saw what you wanted to see because you do not respect people like me.
Carter: I am deeply sorry, Elena, please do not press criminal charges against me today.
Elena: The police are already on their way here, Mr. Miller. You can explain your anger to them.
In the distance, the loud wail of police sirens began echoing up the long private driveway of the luxury estate. The sound sent panic through the crowd of high-society guests, many of whom quickly began walking toward their luxury cars. Nobody wanted to be caught in the middle of a domestic assault investigation involving the high-profile Miller family business empire. Carter dropped his hands to his sides, looking completely defeated as his pristine suit suddenly felt heavy and suffocating to him. His bride pulled off her heavy flower crown, looking at him with deep disappointment and sudden doubt in her eyes.
