The Rich Groom Slapped Me Before Checking The Trash
The Party in the Garden
The morning sun beamed brightly down on the sprawling lawn of the Miller family estate in sunny California. White silk banners fluttered softly in the warm summer breeze, framing the gorgeous flower arches that lined the pristine green grass. Waiters in sharp tuxedos carried silver trays filled with champagne glasses, while rich guests laughed and chatted under large umbrella tables. It was supposed to be the most perfect wedding celebration of the season, a lavish gathering for the city elite. Carter Miller, the sole heir to a massive real estate fortune, was marrying into another wealthy family that afternoon. He stood near the main grand marble fountain, wearing a tailored navy suit, holding court with several high-profile business partners and investors.
Working quietly near the main buffet tables was twenty-four-year-old Elena Vance, a hardworking catering staff member trying to pay off college loans. Elena had been on her feet since five o'clock in the morning, making sure every plate was pristine and completely spot-free. She cared deeply about doing a great job, knowing her single mother relied on the extra money she brought home each week. As she carefully arranged a fresh batch of roasted chicken dishes, something odd caught her sharp eye near the garnish. A large black beetle was actively crawling over the glazed meat on one of the main serving plates intended for the head table. Her heart skipped a beat, knowing how terrible food poisoning or a public health scandal would be for the caterers. She knew she had to act fast before any guest picked up that tainted dish.
Elena: Oh no, that is so dangerous to serve to anyone.
Without hesitating for even a single second, Elena picked up the heavy porcelain dish and carried it away from the buffet. She moved swiftly toward the discreet service area hidden behind tall decorative bushes where the main garbage bins were kept out of sight. With a quick tilt of her wrist, she scraped the entire meal straight into the heavy black trash liner below. The plate clattered loudly against the metallic rim, making a sharp noise that echoed across the quiet catering area. She breathed a heavy sigh of relief, glad she caught the gross bug before a wealthy guest found it. She began wiping down the empty platter with a clean cloth, ready to return to her busy station near the guests.
Carter: What do you think you are doing with that plate?
Elena turned around quickly, her eyes widening as she saw the tall groom walking rapidly toward her with a furious expression. Carter had noticed her sudden movement from across the lawn and assumed she was wasting expensive food through sheer laziness or spite. His face was bright red with sudden anger, his hands clenched tightly into fists at his sides as he approached her. He did not ask what happened or check the plate first; he simply assumed the worst about the hired service help. Elena felt her heart pounding rapidly against her ribs as the powerful billionaire heir backed her right up against the service table.
Elena: Sir, I was just cleaning up a bad plate before anyone touched it.
Carter: You are throwing away a hundred-dollar entree for no reason at all!
Elena: No, sir, please let me explain what was on that food!
Carter: I am sick of lazy staff ruining my expensive party!
Before Elena could finish her sentence, Carter stepped forward rapidly and raised his hand without warning. A sudden, sharp crack echoed through the private service area as his palm struck her cheek with immense force. The brutal slap knocked Elena back against the table, sending small glass bowls crashing down to the hard stone floor below. Pain shot through her jaw as tears instantly pooled in her shocked brown eyes while she held her burning face. Guests nearby stopped talking as the sound of the harsh strike carried over the light background music playing across the lawn.
