Chapter 5 of 5
The Bride Staring At The Bandaged Woman She Believed Dead
The Final Verdict Rendered
The jury returned to the crowded courtroom after two short hours of deliberation.
The head juror handed the official verdict paper to the court clerk.
Clara stood up beside her lawyer with her knees shaking very visibly.
She closed her eyes tightly as the judge prepared to read the paper.
The courtroom went so quiet you could hear a pin drop on floor.
The judge cleared his throat and began reading the final court decisions.
Clara was found guilty on all charges including grand theft and fraud.
She was sentenced to fifteen years in the state women's prison system.
Furthermore all stolen assets were ordered to be returned to the sister.
The bank accounts were frozen and transferred back to the rightful owner.
Clara let out a loud sob as the heavy news hit her hard.
She looked back at her former fiancé one last time for help.
He turned his back on her completely and walked toward the exit doors.
The police guards immediately put heavy chains around Clara's ankles and wrists.
They led her out through the side exit toward the waiting transport van.
Her life of luxury and social status was over for good now.
She would spend her next fifteen years reflecting on her terrible mistakes.
The sister stood near the front doors of the grand court building.
News reporters surrounded her with cameras flashing brightly in the daylight sun.
She answered their questions with cool patience and extreme dignity throughout.
She stated that justice had finally been served for her late father.
Reporter: How do you feel now that your sister is going away?
Sister: I feel sad for her choices but relieved for my safety.
Reporter: Will you take over the family real estate business now?
Sister: Yes I plan to manage everything with honesty and care.
Reporter: What will you do with the rest of the inheritance?
Sister: I will donate a portion to support local medical clinics.
She walked down the marble courthouse steps into the warm fresh air.
Her life was finally her own once again after months of fear.
She took a deep breath and looked up at the blue sky above.
The scars on her face were a reminder of what she survived.
She knew she was strong enough to face whatever came her way next.
Her father's legacy was safe in her capable and honest hands now.
She walked toward her car ready to start a brand new chapter.
The past was finally settled and justice had won the ultimate battle.
Former Groom: I wish you the best of luck with everything.
Sister: Thank you Arthur for doing the right thing today.
Former Groom: If you ever need help with the business call me.
Sister: I will handle my father's company on my own now.
She drove away from the courthouse leaving the long nightmare behind her.
The future was bright and full of brand new real possibilities ahead.
