Chapter 4 of 6
The Arrogant Millionaire Learns Who The Scared Little Girl Really Is
Exposing The Evil Stepmother
The heavy silence in the ballroom was broken only by the sound of Victoria's desperate breathing as she struggled to formulate a lie that could save her. She looked down at Lily, who was still standing close to David's side, holding her grey plush elephant securely under her arm. The little girl did not fully understand the complicated legal terms, but she knew that the kind man in the tuxedo was protecting her from the cruel woman who had spent weeks making her sleep in the cold servant quarters.
Victoria: Mr. Harrison, you cannot do this to me! I signed the final mortgage papers for this property last month!
Mr. Harrison: You signed those documents under false pretenses, madam. That constitutes felony bank fraud and grand larceny.
Victoria: I cared for this house! I hosted the community! I maintained our family name while David was away!
David: You locked my niece in the basement room and forced her to clean the floors like a servant.
Lily: She took my mommy's picture away too... she put it in the trash can downstairs.
David's eyes narrowed into dark slits of pure anger as he listened to his small niece speak the tragic truth about her treatment. He placed a gentle hand on top of Lily's head, smoothing down her soft hair before looking back up at the trembling woman trapped against the staircase banister. The entire crowd gasped again, horrified that a woman living in such extreme luxury could treat a young child with such calculated cruelty.
David: You took her mother's picture and threw it away?
Victoria: She was cluttering up the house with dirty junk! I had to clean up this place before the party!
David: That picture was the only thing she had left of her family, you heartless monster.
Victoria: I am the lady of this house! You cannot talk to me like I am a criminal in front of my guests!
David: You are not the lady of this house anymore, Victoria. In fact, you are not even a guest here.
David reached into his tuxedo coat once more and pulled out an official court injunction order, holding it directly in front of Victoria's pale face. The blue ink stamp of the county judge was clearly visible at the bottom of the page, ordering the immediate eviction and restraint of Victoria Sterling from the property. Victoria shook her head frantically, refusing to reach out and take the paper, but David simply dropped it onto her lap as she shrank back in fear.
David: You have exactly ten minutes to pack one small bag of your personal belongings and leave this property forever.
Victoria: You cannot throw me out! I have a legal right to stay here until the court date next month!
David: Look out the front windows, Victoria. The police officers arriving outside think otherwise.
Through the large glass windows beside the entrance doors, red and blue lights began to flash brightly against the driveway pavement. Two uniformed police cruisers pulled up along the fountain circle, their engines idling as four officers stepped out onto the gravel walk. Victoria's eyes widened in sheer panic as she realized that her reign of terror and greed had officially come to an end in front of the entire city's high society.
