Chapter 3 of 6
The Arrogant Millionaire Learns Who The Scared Little Girl Really Is
The Truth Hidden In Paperwork
David held the thick leather folder high enough for the nearby guests and lawyers to clearly see the red wax seal stamped upon the front. Victoria slowly pushed herself up off the floor, still holding her swelling cheek while her body trembled with a mixture of pain and deep humiliation. She looked at the official documents in David's hand, her face losing all of its color as she recognized the distinctive legal markings of the family's senior estate attorney.
Victoria: That is impossible! The inheritance was settled six months ago after your brother passed away!
David: It was settled based on the fraudulent paperwork you handed to the probate court, Victoria.
Victoria: I did no such thing! I am his rightful widow and the sole administrator of this entire trust fund!
David: You hid the existence of his lawful daughter so you could steal every single dollar for yourself.
Victoria: She has no legal proof! Her mother left the state years ago without leaving any paper trail!
David opened the folder with a sharp flip of his wrist, pulling out several crisp white pages covered in formal legal text and signed court affidavits. He stepped closer to Victoria, tossing the papers down onto the small glass table beside her so the guests could see the clear signatures at the bottom of each page. The crowd edged forward, leaning in to glimpse the legal papers that were about to tear Victoria's wealthy lifestyle apart.
David: This is a certified DNA test result from the state laboratory, along with my brother's original, unedited last will and testament.
Lily: Is that... is that about my daddy?
David: Yes, sweetie. Your daddy made sure you would always be taken care of, no matter what happened.
Victoria: This is a fake! You fabricated these papers just to ruin my reputation and steal my money!
David: The estate attorney is standing right behind you, Victoria. Why don't you ask him if these are fake?
From the back of the room, an elderly man in a sharp grey suit stepped forward, holding a black leather briefcase in his left hand. Mr. Harrison, the longtime family attorney who had managed the Vance family trust for over thirty years, looked at Victoria with a stern, disappointed expression. He pulled a second copy of the legal documents from his briefcase and held them out toward the crowd, confirming every word David had spoken.
Mr. Harrison: I have personally verified these documents with the county court this morning, Mrs. Sterling. Lily is indeed the rightful heir to sixty percent of the Vance estate, including this mansion.
Victoria backed away until her spine hit the grand wooden banister of the staircase, her breath coming in quick, shallow gasps. She looked around the room, hoping to find a single friendly face among her wealthy friends, but every person was staring at her with cold contempt and utter disgust. The woman who had spent months boasting about her endless fortune was now exposed as a greedy thief who had mistreated an innocent orphan girl to protect her stolen wealth.
