Chapter 5 of 6
A Torn Dress Uncovered The Truth About Her Lost Inheritance
The Attorney Steps Forward
Mr. Harrison adjusted his glasses and pulled a crisp blue paper from the front pocket of his leather briefcase. He held the document up high so the surrounding crowd could clearly see the official red court stamp on the bottom right corner. He spoke with a clear, loud voice that reached every single corner of the high-ceiling ballroom without any hesitation. The guests listened intently, nodding their heads in agreement as the true story finally came into the open daylight.
Mr. Harrison: Victoria lied to the probate court and hid your father's true Last Will and Testament.
Victoria: This is a lie! You are trying to destroy my reputation in front of my friends!
Mr. Harrison: The judge signed the final order yesterday morning to freeze all your stolen bank accounts.
Bride: You mean she stole everything from this sweet girl who fixed my dress?
Mr. Harrison: Yes, she did. But starting today, Sarah is the sole owner of the entire estate.
Victoria tried to turn around and hurry toward the double exit doors at the end of the long hallway. But two uniformed police officers, who had been waiting quietly near the entrance, stepped inside and blocked her path. The officers held up their hands, instructing Victoria to stand still while they verified the legal paperwork from Mr. Harrison. Victoria's face turned completely white as she realized her greedy actions had finally caught up with her in public. The crowd began cheering loudly for Sarah, celebrating the fact that justice was finally being served after so long.
Officer: Victoria Vance, you need to come with us to answer questions about estate fraud.
Victoria: You cannot arrest me! Do you know how much money I have?
Officer: Your accounts are frozen, ma'am. Please step forward without making a scene.
Sarah: I do not hold hatred in my heart, Victoria, but you must answer for what you did.
The police officers guided Victoria toward the exit while the entire ballroom watched her leave in complete silence. Victoria bowed her head in deep shame, unable to look anyone in the eye as she walked past the bright windows. Sarah stood tall next to Mr. Harrison, feeling a heavy weight lift off her shoulders for the first time in five years. She looked down at her simple silver needle and thread, knowing that her quiet skill had brought her to this moment of truth.
