A Rich Heir Slapped His Wealthy Bride At Their Gala

The Gala Of Hidden Lies

The bright lights of the grand ballroom sparkled against expensive crystal glasses and high ceilings. Hundreds of wealthy guests walked across the polished marble floor while soft music played in the background. Mark stood near the grand entrance, wearing a custom dark red velvet suit that made him look like royalty. He was the sole heir to a massive family estate and a powerful business trust fund. Tonight was supposed to be the best night of his entire life. He was announcing his engagement to Victoria, a woman who came from a high society family. Everyone thought they were the perfect couple, but dark secrets were hidden behind their fake smiles.

Mark moved through the crowd to greet his family's corporate partners and divorce lawyers. His late father had left him a strict will regarding the family business and real estate. To keep his full inheritance, Mark needed to show stability and marriage was part of that plan. Victoria had seemed like the ideal choice for months because she always acted polite in public. But over the last few weeks, small items had started going missing around the mansion. Expensive watch collections, diamond rings, and cash had disappeared without a trace. Victoria always blamed the working staff, especially the younger housekeepers who needed the money to pay rent.

Near the catering tables, a young maid named Sarah was busily wiping down glass trays. She was a hard working woman who took care of her sick mother and paid off student loans. Sarah had worked for Mark's family for three years without a single complaint on her record. Her simple gray uniform looked out of place among the designer dresses, but her dignity showed in her quiet work. She wiped the counter carefully, hoping to finish her shift and go home to relieve her mother's nurse. Sarah never wanted any drama, but drama was about to find her in front of hundreds of people.

Victoria walked toward the catering table with an arrogant look on her face. Her dress was covered in sparkling beads that caught every beam of light from the chandeliers. She held a expensive silver clutch purse tight under her arm while looking down at Sarah with cold eyes. Victoria needed money fast because her own family was secretly facing bank foreclosure on their country house. Her personal bank accounts were completely empty after bad investments, but she hid her debts from Mark. She needed to look rich until the wedding ceremony was officially over and the prenup was signed.

Victoria: Make sure those champagne glasses are spotless, girl.

Sarah: Yes, ma'am. I am cleaning them right now.

Victoria: See that you do. My guests expect perfection tonight.

Sarah nodded her head politely and continued polishing the heavy crystal stemware. She knew Victoria disliked her, but she kept her voice calm and professional. Mark watched from across the room, feeling a strange knot in his stomach. He loved Victoria, but her sharp attitude toward the servants always bothered his heart. He remembered how his father always treated everyone with respect regardless of their wealth or position. Mark took a deep breath, adjusted his velvet jacket, and walked over toward his beautiful bride to be.

Suddenly, a loud commotion broke out near the private VIP room at the back of the ballroom. Mark's aunt stepped out, her face pale and her hands shaking with fear. She held her neck, pointing toward the empty velvet box on her dressing table. A rare diamond necklace worth two million dollars had just vanished right before the big announcement. The entire room went dead silent as guests stopped talking and turned their heads. The security team quickly blocked the main doors to prevent anyone from leaving the building.
