David stepped forward, putting his arm around his trembling niece and pulling her close to his side to protect her from the unhinged bride. David immediately dropped to his knees next to Clara, gently helping the sobbing maid stand up from the floor. He took the apron off her shoulders, carefully removing his family's diamond necklace and handing it to his head of security to put away safely in a secure lockbox.
