Chapter 2 of 5
A Greedy Bride Framed The Maid But A Child Saved Her
A Sudden Horrible Accusation
Sarah took a deep breath, opened her mouth, and let out a piercing scream that shattered the quiet morning in the luxury venue. She dramatically threw her hand toward Clara, pointing her trembling finger directly at the terrified maid who was still holding the silver tray. Guests who were mingling near the entrance turned around in shock, whispering in confusion as they rushed toward the dressing room doors. David came running into the room, his black tuxedo immaculate, his face filled with genuine concern as he rushed to his glowing bride's side.
Sarah: SHE STOLE MY NECKLACE! IT'S IN HER POCKET!
Clara: What? No! I would never steal anything from anyone!
Sarah: Stop lying, you thief! My family heirloom is missing from the vanity, and I saw you stuffing it away!
The room exploded into loud gasps and stunned whispers from the high-society guests crowding the hallway. Clara's face turned completely pale, her voice shaking violently as she set the silver tray down on the nearest table with trembling hands. She felt the heavy object in her pocket for the very first time, her heart dropping into her stomach like a stone as her fingers brushed against the cold metal of the gold chain. She pulled her hands back as if the fabric had caught fire, backing away toward the corner of the room while staring at the crowd with wide, frightened eyes.
Clara: I didn't put that in my pocket! I swear on my life, I didn't take it!
Sarah: David, look at her! She's terrified because she was caught red-handed right before the wedding!
David: Clara, please calm down. Just hand over the necklace so we can figure this out.
Clara: You have to believe me, sir! I was just cleaning the tray! I don't know how it got in there!
David looked torn, his eyes darting between his hysterical bride and the weeping maid who looked utterly defenseless. He knew Clara had worked for his family's estates for nearly two years without a single complaint or missing item, but the evidence seemed plain to everyone watching. The snobbish wedding guests began to murmur angrily, demanding that the venue security guards be called immediately to haul Clara away to the local police station in handcuffs. Clara covered her face with her trembling hands, feeling the crushing weight of a system that always blamed the poor person when rich people lost their expensive toys.
Sarah: Call the police right now! I want her arrested and thrown in jail before the ceremony starts!
David: Sarah, wait, let's just search the room carefully first to make sure there's no misunderstanding.
Sarah: Misunderstanding? David, she is a thief living in my house! Are you taking her side over mine?
Sarah squeezed out fake tears, leaning heavily against David's broad chest to make herself look like the ultimate victim of a cruel crime. She wanted Clara removed immediately so the police report would be filed before anyone thought to look at the venue's security cameras or ask deeper questions about her personal bank accounts. Clara sank to her knees on the polished oak floor, her tears soaking through her white collar as she begged the wealthy family for mercy, knowing that an arrest record would ruin her life forever and leave her sick mother without care or medicine.
Clara: Please, someone help me... I didn't do this! I am innocent!
Sarah: Get her out of my sight before she ruins our special day completely!
