The little girl sobbed softly, resting her small, pale forehead against David's warm shoulder as she spoke through her tears. She raised one shaky arm and pointed her tiny finger directly at the woman standing in the fine beige dress. The whole room seemed to hold its breath as the small child prepared to speak the truth in front of everyone. Evelyn's hands twitched nervously, and she took a fast step forward to grab Lily's arm and pull her down. She did not want the wealthy people of the city to hear a single word from the mouth of that child. But David shifted his weight back, blocking his mother completely with his shoulder.

Lily: Grandma locks me in the small dark closet... and she takes all my food away!

Evelyn: Shut your mouth, you filthy little liar! Don't you dare listen to her, David!

Lily: She said I was too ugly to live in her big house! She took my clothes away!

The words fell upon the crowded room like heavy stones, leaving every single person in absolute, horrified silence. Guests who had been smiling moments ago now covered their mouths with their hands, looking at Evelyn with total disgust. Evelyn's new husband took a slow step away from her on the stage, his face filled with sudden doubt and shock. Evelyn realized her high status was falling apart in a single minute, and her eyes filled with an evil, desperate fury. She raised her hand high into the air, reaching out to strike the little girl across her tear-stained cheek to silence her permanently.

Before Evelyn's hand could fall, David moved with blinding speed that shocked everyone watching the confrontation unfold. He shifted Lily safely behind his shoulder and stepped forward into his mother's personal space with cold rage. The sharp slap echoed through the grand ballroom like a gunshot, loud and clear against the hard marble surfaces of the room. Evelyn's head snapped back hard, and she stumbled backward three full steps, clutching her cheek with her manicured hand. Her expensive beaded gown rustled loudly as she nearly lost her balance on her high heels near the tall wedding cake. A collective gasp rose up from the crowd of hundreds of people.

David: YOU'RE GOING TO EXPLAIN EVERY SINGLE CENT!

David glared down at the woman with a cold, relentless authority that made Evelyn tremble where she stood in shock. She looked up at her son, her hand pressed against her red, swelling cheek, her arrogant mask completely shattered in public. The rich guests were now pulling out their phones, taking photos and recording videos of the powerful family drama unfolding. Evelyn looked around wildly, hoping someone would step in to help her, but even her new husband turned his face away in shame. She was completely isolated in the middle of her own grand party, exposed for the monster she truly was inside. David took a step closer, his eyes fixed on her face.

David: I sent you one hundred and twenty thousand dollars over two years. Where is it?

Evelyn: I... I spent it on the mortgage! I had to maintain my lifestyle for the family name!

David: You starved my daughter to buy designer clothes and throw this fake wedding!

David looked down at his daughter, whose tiny hands were still gripping his shirt as if her life depended on it. He reached into his coat pocket and pulled out his phone, his fingers moving quickly across the smooth glass screen. He dialed the three-digit emergency number for the local police department and put the phone directly to his ear. Evelyn's eyes went wide with pure terror when she realized what her son was doing right in front of all her high-society guests. She lunged forward, trying to grab the phone out of his hand, but David pushed her back with one strong arm.

David: Yes, operator? I need police and an ambulance at the Grand Regency Hotel immediately. My daughter has been severely abused and starved.
