Chapter 4 of 6
A Boy Interrupted His Father Funeral With One Distressing Message
The Rush To The Cottage
Within ten minutes three police cruisers arrived outside the grand funeral hall.
Red and blue flashing lights reflected brightly against the stained glass chapel windows.
Officers rushed inside with weapons secured while assessing the chaotic scene inside.
Thomas immediately presented the glowing smartphone and explained the recorded audio message.
Officer: Who is in charge of this memorial service right now?
Thomas: That woman sitting over there tried to fake her husband death.
Victoria: It was an accident, I was confused by the doctor report!
Officer: Ma'am, stay right where you are and put your hands visible.
The lead officer handcuffed Victoria and her nervous lawyer on the spot.
Two other officers rushed out to their cruisers to head toward the cottage location.
Leo ran outside after them and begged the lead officer to let him come along.
Leo: Please let me go with you, I know where the secret basement door is!
Officer: Get in the back seat, son, and show us the fastest route there.
Thomas climbed into the police vehicle beside Leo to keep him safe and calm.
The police car sped down the highway with sirens blaring loudly into the wind.
Leo pointed through the front windshield toward a narrow dirt road ahead.
The vehicle kicked up dust as it navigated the dense pine forest trails.
In the distance sat Arthur secluded wooden lake cottage near the quiet shore.
The officers pulled up to the front porch with their firearms drawn carefully.
Officer: Stay inside the vehicle until we clear the entire house, Leo.
Leo: Please hurry, he sounded so weak on the phone call!
The officers kicked open the heavy wooden front door and searched the dark rooms.
They found a hidden trapdoor behind a heavy bookshelf inside the master study.
Below the floorboards was a small reinforced room equipped with basic medical supplies.
Arthur Miller was lying on a small cot, weak but alive and conscious.
He had been heavily sedated by Victoria accomplice to keep him completely silent.
When the sedation wore off, he managed to press his emergency watch button.
