Chapter 2 of 6

A Boy Interrupted His Father Funeral With One Distressing Message

A Cry For Help Shown

Victoria lunged forward aggressively to snatch the glowing smartphone out of Leo hand.

Leo ducked under her outstretched arm and darted toward the center of the chapel.

He held the device up high as the screen flashed with a bright blue background.

On the display was a fresh text message notification from an unlisted number.

The single word written on the screen in bold text was Socorro.

It was the emergency distress code that Leo and his father always used together.

Leo: Look at the screen right now!

Victoria: He is just making up stories because he cannot accept the truth!

Leo: Dad taught me this code word when we went camping last summer!

Richard: Son, you need to calm down and respect your stepmother grief.

Leo: Do not touch me, Richard!

The lawyer reached out to take the boy phone but Leo backed away fast.

Several guests stood up from their seats to get a clearer view of the screen.

Murmurs of confusion spread quickly through the crowded rows of the funeral hall.

An elderly family friend named Thomas stepped into the center aisle near Leo.

Thomas: Let me see that phone for a second, young man.

Victoria: Thomas, please do not encourage this delusional behavior during a funeral!

Thomas: The boy is terrified, Victoria, let us just look at what he has.

Thomas took the smartphone gently from Leo shaking hands and read the screen.

His eyes widened as he noticed the exact timestamp on the distress message.

The text had arrived just four minutes ago while everyone was inside the chapel.

Thomas: This message came through just now from Arthur personal smartwatch account.

Victoria: That is impossible because Arthur watch was buried with his belongings!

Leo: No, it was not, because dad kept a secondary tracker in his private study!

Victoria face turned completely pale as she glared furiously at her young stepson.

Her hands clenched into tight fists at her sides as she took a step back.

Victoria: He set up an automated message earlier to trick us all!

Leo: I did not set up anything!

Leo: My dad is alive somewhere and you are trying to hide him!

The crowd gasped louder as the accusation hung heavily in the cool chapel air.

Victoria looked around at the suspicious faces of her late husband friends.

Victoria: How dare you accuse me of such a terrible thing in public!

Richard: We should call security to escort this frantic boy outside immediately.

Thomas: Nobody is escorting anyone out until we figure out what is happening.
