Chapter 3 of 6

A Boy Interrupted His Father Funeral With One Distressing Message

The Unraveling Of The Lie

Thomas dialed the number associated with the incoming text message on speakerphone.

A faint ringing sound echoed through the silent chapel speakers across the hall.

Victoria reached into her black purse with shaking fingers to find her own device.

Richard leaned close to her ear and whispered something with a nervous expression.

Richard: We need to leave through the side entrance right now, Victoria.

Victoria: If we run now, everyone will know something is completely wrong.

Thomas: The call is connecting right now, everyone please be quiet.

A muffled scraping sound came through the speaker of the smartphone on display.

Heavy breathing could be heard clearly by everyone standing in the front rows.

Leo: Dad, is that you listening to me?

Voice: Help... basement... cottage...

The raspy weak voice belonged undeniably to Arthur Miller himself.

A collective wave of shock ripples through every single guest in the chapel.

Women shrieked in horror while several men stepped forward to block the doors.

Guest: That is Arthur voice speaking right now!

Guest: He is not inside that casket at all!

Victoria spun around toward the rear exit but two large relatives blocked her path.

Relative: You are not going anywhere until the police get here, Victoria.

Victoria: Get out of my way right now or I will have you arrested!

Thomas: You are the one who is going to be arrested today, Victoria.

Leo stood beside Thomas with tears streaming freely down his smiling cheeks.

He knew his father was still breathing somewhere out there in the world.

Leo: I told you my dad was not dead!

Richard: I had no knowledge of any of this, I was just hired for the estate!

Thomas: Save your excuses for the police officers who are on their way.

Thomas quickly dialed nine one one on his personal cell phone without delay.

He gave the emergency dispatcher the exact location of Arthur private lake cottage.

Victoria collapsed into a nearby wooden pew while sobbing in deep panicked defeat.

Her perfect plan to seize the multi million dollar estate was crumbling fast.

She had spent months planning how to replace her husband with a fake report.

She never anticipated that a simple smartwatch would ruin her entire scheme today.

The chapel filled with loud angry shouts as guests demanded immediate answers from her.
