Chapter 2 of 5
A Bitter Uncle Tripped My Daughter At Our Family Gathering
A Cruel Act Exposed Publicly
The room fell into a stunned silence as Lily hit the floor face first. Evelyn's heart stopped for a second before pure instinct took over her body completely. She dropped her purse, sprinting across the checkered floor and dropping to her knees beside her daughter. Lily was crying softly, holding her bruised knee while clutching her small pink dress. The little girl's eyes were filled with shock and confusion at why her uncle would hurt her. Evelyn gathered the crying child into a protective embrace, rocking her back and forth on the cold floor. Tears of pure anger began to glisten on Evelyn's hot cheeks as she checked Lily for serious injuries. Skin pores on her red face stood out as her blood pressure spiked to dangerous levels. Julian stayed standing right above them, crossing his arms over his blue suit with an arrogant smirk. He did not offer an apology or show a single shred of remorse for what he had just done.
Evelyn: Are you okay, sweetheart? Look at me, baby, are you hurt?
Lily: My knee hurts so bad, Mommy! He kicked me!
Julian: That's what happens to intruders who run around where they do not belong.
Grandma Rose: Julian, that is enough! She is a child! Have you completely lost your mind?
Julian: She shouldn't be running in my house, Rose. Keep your leash on her.
Evelyn rose from the floor swiftly, her entire body shaking with intense fury. The fear she had carried for years vanished instantly, replaced by a mother's fierce protective instinct. Her fists were clenched so tight her knuckles turned completely white against her side. She stepped right into Julian's personal space, her breathing heavy and ragged as she locked eyes with him. Julian's smirk faltered slightly as he saw the raw rage burning in his sister's wide eyes. The surrounding relatives backed away slightly, sensing the dramatic shift in the heavy atmosphere. Evelyn pointed her index finger directly into the center of his chest, jabbing him sharply with every word. Her voice echoed off the white crown molding, commanding the undivided attention of every wealthy guest present.
Evelyn: Don't you dare speak to her like that ever again! You are a monster!
Julian: Watch your tone, Evelyn. You have no power in this house anymore.
Evelyn: Never touch my daughter again! If you ever lay a finger on her, I will destroy you!
Julian: You can't touch me. The house, the money, the firm—it is all mine now.
Evelyn: We will see what the probate judge says about your secret offshore account, Julian.
Julian's face went completely pale as the word left her mouth in front of the crowd. He grabbed Evelyn's arm roughly, trying to lean in and quiet her down before she said more. Grandma Rose stepped between them, her jaw set firm as she slapped Julian's arm away with surprising force. The tension in the room was suffocating as the guests whispered among themselves in absolute shock. Julian glared at his sister, realizing she held a hidden card he had not prepared for today. Evelyn lifted Lily into her arms, keeping her eyes fixed on Julian as she backed away slowly. The quiet gathering had transformed into an open warzone, and there was no turning back now.
