Chapter 5 of 6
A Bitter Groom's Mother Rips Her New Bride's Cheap Dress
A Reckoning for the Past
Within two hours, the grand wedding hall had turned into a private headquarters for state investigators and medical officials. A rapid DNA testing crew arrived at the estate, taking blood samples from both Margarethe and Hannah under the watchful eyes of three senior detectives. The truth could no longer be hidden under heavy silk gowns or buried inside old court records.
The test results came back before the sun began to set behind the estate mountains. The match was ninety-nine point nine percent positive. Hannah was indeed the lost Vance daughter who had been hidden away by a corrupt lawyer to bleed the family estate through fake charity funds and fake trust management fees.
By evening, the corrupt lawyer was taken away in handcuffs directly from his downtown office, charged with child trafficking, fraud, and theft of a fifty-million-dollar inheritance trust. The legal battle that had kept the family broken for twenty-three years was finally finished in a single afternoon of chaos.
Margarethe sat alone in the large estate library, holding a hot tea cup that she hadn't touched for hours. The arrogance that had defined her for decades was completely destroyed. She walked slowly toward the small guest house where Julian and Hannah were staying, her head bowed in deep humiliation and regret.
Margarethe: Hannah... I know I don't deserve your forgiveness for what I did today.
Hannah: You judged me before you even knew my name, Mrs. Vance.
Margarethe: I know... I let money and pride ruin my heart. I was so afraid of losing control that I hurt the only thing I had left of my lost past.
She pulled a leather bound folder from under her arm and placed it gently on the wooden table. It contained the legal paperwork transferring fifty percent of the entire family estate, including the luxury cars, the mansion, and the trust fund, directly into Hannah's name. It was more wealth than Hannah had ever seen in a thousand lifetimes, but she didn't reach out to touch it.
Hannah: I don't want your millions. I just wanted a family that loved Julian and accepted me for who I am.
Julian: Mother, if you want to be in our lives, you need to change completely. No more money talk, no more pride.
Margarethe: I will do whatever it takes. I will fix the dress, I will rebuild the home, and I will earn your respect every single day.
