Chapter 3 of 6
A Bitter Bride Pushed Her Boy Into The Pool
The Truth On The Phone
Sarah broke through the surface of the pool, gasping for air as she kicked her legs hard to keep both of them afloat. She hoisted Toby onto the wide stone edge of the pool deck and climbed out right after him. Toby was not breathing; his skin was pale and his lips were turning blue. Sarah dropped to her knees beside him on the wet tiles, tears streaming down her wet face as she pressed her hands onto his chest to perform CPR. She gave him two chest pumps, then breathed air into his small mouth, praying with every beat of her heart.
Sarah: Come back to me, sweetheart! Please breathe!
Victoria: Stop this dramatic act! He just swallowed a little water!
Sarah: Breathe, Toby! Please wake up, baby!
The crowd of wedding guests had gathered close, their faces full of horror as they watched the young mother fight to save her child's life. Many of the older guests began whispering angrily among themselves, disgusted by Victoria's complete lack of sympathy. After three agonizing rounds of CPR, Toby suddenly coughed up a lungful of water. He gasped deeply, his chest heaving as he burst into loud, shaking sobs. Sarah pulled him into a fierce hug, crying uncontrollably as she held his wet head against her neck.
Richard stepped forward, pulling out his leather wallet with a cold expression on his face. He pulled out a stack of hundred-dollar bills and held them out toward Sarah, treating her like a beggar on the street. He thought he could buy his way out of any trouble with money, just like he always did in his business deals. He tossed the money onto the wet ground right beside Sarah's knees, expecting her to pick it up and leave quietly without causing any further embarrassment for his new wife.
Richard: Take five hundred bucks and get out. Don't call the police.
Sarah: Put your money back in your pocket, you monster.
Victoria: You should be grateful he is offering you anything at all!
Sarah stood up slowly, keeping Toby safely behind her legs. She reached into the pocket of her beige dress and pulled out her waterproof smartphone, which had survived the plunge into the pool. She tapped the screen, revealing that the video recorder had been running the entire time from her breast pocket, recording every second of the push, the violent slap, and Richard's cruel words. The lens had captured clear audio and video of Victoria shoving Toby backward into the deep pool without any mercy.
Victoria's face went completely pale as she recognized the bright red recording light flashing on Sarah's screen. The arrogant bride stepped back nervously, her hands shaking as the surrounding guests gasped in shock. They now realized that the entire cruel act was captured on video, ready to be shown to the police or posted online for millions of people to see. Sarah wiped the wet hair away from her eyes and stared directly into Victoria's fearful eyes with absolute, icy determination.
Sarah: You'll regret what you've done today.
