Chapter 2 of 6

A Bitter Bride Pushed Her Boy Into The Pool

A Mother Fights Back Hard

Sarah rushed forward toward the pool edge, her hands reaching out in pure panic. But before she could jump into the water, Richard grabbed her arm from behind with a grip like iron. He pulled her back forcefully, twisting her wrists until Sarah cried out in pain. Sarah tried to pull away, but Richard was too strong, pinning her arms behind her back as she kicked and screamed for help. The guests stood paralyzed in shock, watching the horrible scene unfold near the deep end of the pool.

Sarah: Let me go! My son can't swim!

Richard: Stand still and stop making a scene at our party.

Victoria: Look at what he did to my dress! He ruined my big entrance!

Victoria stepped forward and raised her right hand, slapping Sarah across the face with a loud crack that made several guests cover their mouths in shock. Sarah's cheek turned bright red instantly, but she did not even care about the sting on her skin. Her eyes were glued to the water where Toby was sinking deeper and deeper, bubbles rising from his mouth as his small hands reached upward toward the light. Toby was drowning right in front of her eyes, and nobody was moving a finger to help him.

Richard bent down close to Sarah's ear, his voice dripping with cruel amusement as he held her back with all his weight. He did not care about the safety of a child; he only cared about maintaining control and pleasing his rich bride. He laughed softly under his breath, leaning closer so only Sarah could hear his cold words while the pool water kept churning above her helpless boy.

Richard: Every dog knows how to swim.

Sarah: He is just a little boy! Help him!

Richard: He needs to learn his place, just like you.

Sarah felt a wave of rage explode inside her chest. She raised her foot and stomped her sharp heel down with all her strength directly onto Richard's leather shoe. Richard screamed out in sharp pain, losing his grip on her arms for a brief second. Sarah elbowed him hard in the stomach, breaking completely free from his grasp. Without hesitating for a single moment, Sarah sprinted to the edge of the stone deck and dived headfirst into the deep cold water.

The icy water hit Sarah's body like a shock, but her mind was completely focused on her son. She opened her eyes underwater, ignoring the sting of the chlorine. She saw Toby floating motionlessly near the bottom of the eight-foot pool, his small body limp and still. Sarah kicked her legs furiously, cutting through the water until her arms wrapped around Toby's chest. She pulled him tightly against her heart and kicked off the concrete floor, pushing both of them toward the bright surface above.
