Chapter 3 of 5

My Evil Stepmother Forced My Pregnant Wife Onto Her Knees

The Line is Crossed

Mark pulled his sedan into the driveway, feeling an unsettling sensation in his chest. His meeting with the family lawyer had been cut short when the attorney revealed that Margarethe had recently attempted to transfer three million dollars from the main trust fund into an offshore account. Realizing his stepmother was actively trying to bankrupt the estate, Mark had hurried back home to warn Sarah and call the legal authorities.

As Mark stepped out of his car, he noticed two unfamiliar luxury vehicles parked along the curb in front of his house. His blood ran cold. He recognized the cars as belonging to Margarethe's friends from the country club. Without losing a second, Mark sprinted up the concrete walkway toward the front entrance.

He reached the entrance, gripped the brass door handle, and found it unlocked. Pushing the heavy white paneled door open, Mark burst into the foyer with tremendous force. The heavy door slammed violently against the interior wall, sending a loud crash through the house as his heavy footsteps rushed down the hallway floor.

Mark: Sarah!

He rounded the corner into the living room and froze in absolute horror. His pregnant wife was kneeling on the cold oak floor, crying softly as food was smeared across her lips and face. Margarethe was standing over her, holding her down by the shoulder while her two wealthy friends watched from the doorway with cold indifference.

Margarethe: Mind your own business, Mark!

Mark: Stay away from my wife!

Mark screamed the words with pure, unbridled rage, his face turning bright red as his heart pounded against his ribs. He stepped aggressively into the center of the living room, pointing a trembling finger directly at Margarethe and her horror-stricken friends. The two guests took an immediate step backward toward the hallway, realizing that the situation had spiraled completely out of control.

Mark dropped to his knees right beside Sarah, his voice instantly softening as he gently grabbed her trembling arms. He pulled her up safely to her feet, holding her against his body to shield her protectively from the women in the room. Sarah buried her face into his chest, her sobs shaking her entire frame as she held onto his jacket for dear life.

Sarah: Mark... she came in... she tried to force me...

Mark: I know, baby. I am right here. You are safe now.

Margarethe: Do not act dramatic, Mark! She was being disrespectful to me, and I was simply teaching her how to behave in a high-class family!

Mark slowly guided Sarah toward the safety of the hallway, ensuring she was out of harm's way before turning back to face his stepmother. His hands were clenched into tight fists at his sides, his chest heaving with deep, ragged breaths as he locked eyes with the woman who had tormented his family for years.

Mark: You put your hands on my pregnant wife in my own home.

Margarethe: She is a nobody! She does not belong in this estate, and neither do you if you keep questioning my authority over the trust fund!

Mark stepped forward, closing the distance between them in two fast strides. Enraged beyond control, he raised his hand and delivered a hard, sharp slap directly across Margarethe's face. The loud impact rang out like a gunshot through the room, causing Margarethe's head to snap violently to the side as a sudden gasp escaped her lips.

Margarethe stumbled back against the armchair, clutching her reddened cheek in total shock. She stared at Mark with wide, disbelieving eyes, completely unaccustomed to anyone ever standing up to her abusive behavior.

Margarethe: You... you struck me? I am your father's widow!

Mark: You are a monster who just attacked a pregnant woman.

Before Margarethe could recover her balance, Mark reached out and aggressively grabbed her arm, pulling her off the chair. He dragged her forcefully across the hardwood floor toward the entrance hallway, ignoring her loud shrieks and complaints as her expensive designer shoes scraped uselessly against the ground.

Margarethe: Let go of me, Mark! You will pay for this! I will destroy your life!

Mark: Get out of my house!

He reached the front entrance, dragged her onto the porch, and shoved her forcefully out into the bright daylight. He turned to her two terrified friends, pointing toward the driveway with a cold, commanding stare that left no room for argument.

Mark: Both of you, get off my property before I have the police arrest you for trespassing!

The two women scrambled down the front steps without saying a single word, hurrying toward their luxury vehicles as fast as their high heels could take them. Mark grabbed the edge of the heavy front door and slammed it shut with incredible force, the heavy click of the deadbolt locking into place, echoing through the empty entryway.
