Chapter 1 of 5

A Wealthy Passenger Slapped Her But Regretted It Instantly

The Angry Passenger Arrives

The morning rush at JFK International Airport was always intense, but today felt heavier than usual. Elena stood behind the check-in desk, adjusting her blue uniform scarf with crisp precision. She had been working for the airline for six years, handling frantic tourists, crying toddlers, and stressed business travelers with grace. Before taking this job, Elena spent four years training in martial arts and defensive tactics, though she rarely mentioned it to her coworkers. She preferred to keep a low profile and focus on doing her job well. Her shift was almost over, and she was looking forward to going home to her daughter, when a sharp voice sliced through the hum of the terminal.

Richard: Move out of my way! I have a first-class ticket and I demand service right now!

A tall man in a tailored grey suit pushed past three elderly passengers. His face was bright red, and he slammed a leather briefcase onto the polished counter. His name was Richard Sterling, a local real estate mogul known for his bad temper and endless line of expensive defense lawyers. He had just missed his connection to London due to severe traffic, but in his mind, the fault belonged entirely to the airline. He leaned over the counter, stepping directly into Elena's personal space.

Elena: Good morning, sir. Please take a moment to breathe, and I will check your account immediately.

Richard: Don't tell me to breathe! You ruined my flight! Your stupid system delayed my luggage, and now your incompetent staff locked the gate on me!

Elena: Sir, the gate closes twenty minutes before departure for safety reasons. I can rebook you on the next flight out at two afternoon.

Richard: Two afternoon? Are you out of your mind? I have a ten million dollar land deal meeting in London tonight! My time is worth more than your entire annual salary!

Nearby passengers turned their heads, murmuring nervously as Richard leaned closer. The crowd started pulling out their phones, sensing that a major scene was unfolding. Elena remained still, her hands resting calmly on the keyboard as she pulled up his booking records. She saw that he had received five text alerts about the gate closure times over the past two hours. The error was completely his own, yet he was determined to make someone else suffer for it.

Elena: Sir, I understand you are frustrated about your meeting. However, yelling at me will not open the gate. I need you to lower your voice so I can process your new ticket.

Richard: I am not lowering anything! You listen to me, girl. My cousin sits on the board of directors for this airline. I can have your badge stripped and your job gone before you finish your shift!

Elena: You are welcome to file a formal complaint with customer relations, sir. But right now, I am the person who can get you on the next plane.

Richard raised his fist and slammed it against the counter, causing the computer monitor to rattle. Several families pulled their children back, moving away from the desk. Elena's heart rate did not spike; instead, her mind became entirely focused and calm. She recognized the classic signs of an escalation that could get out of control. She quietly tapped the silent alert button under her desk to notify airport security, keeping her eyes fixed on Richard's angry face.
