Chapter 4 of 5
A Groom Learns The Hidden Truth After Kicking His Ex
The Price Of Betrayal
Mark stood up slowly, keeping one protective hand on Sarah's shoulder while staring at Clara with complete, cold detachment in his eyes. The Minister closed his leather Bible quietly, stepping back toward the flower arrangements to give the family room to handle the situation. Clara glared at the approaching guests, taking a steps backward toward the edge of the wooden altar platform. Her hands were clenched tight, her voice dripping with sharp venom as she realized her life of luxury was vanishing into thin air. Mark pulled his smartphone out from his inner suit jacket, scrolling quickly through his contacts to find his legal representative. The crowd watched in silence as Mark held the phone up to his ear, his voice calm, firm, and completely decisive.
Mark: Hello, David? Cancel the trust transfer immediately. Call the police department and send officers to the garden estate right now.
Clara: You can't call the police on me! I haven't stolen anything from you yet!
Mark: You committed physical assault on camera, and you tried to carry out grand fraud against my estate.
Clara: This is ridiculous! I am leaving this place right now!
Mark: You are not going anywhere until the officers arrive to take your official statement.
Two of Mark’s tall groomsmen stepped onto the pathway, blocking the main garden exit with their arms crossed tightly over their suits. Clara backed up against the flower-covered archway, looking around wildly like a trapped animal finding no route of escape. Her expensive veil caught on a rose thorn, tearing slightly as she pulled away with an angry muttered curse. Meanwhile, Sarah tried to stand up, wincing softly as she put pressure on her right ankle that had twisted during the fall. Mark immediately wrapped a steady arm around her waist, supporting her full weight so she wouldn't fall back onto the hard stone. He looked down into her pale face, noticing the faint scar near her temple from an old accident they had weathered together years ago. All the memories of their quiet, honest life before his quick rise to wealth came flooding back into his mind with overpowering force. He realized that true loyalty didn't show up in fancy clothes or smooth compliments, but in dirty shoes and brave sacrifices.
Sarah: Thank you for believing me, Mark. I was so afraid I would arrive too late to stop it.
Mark: You saved me from total ruin, Sarah. I should have listened to you two years ago when things went wrong.
Sarah: We were both hurting back then. We made mistakes, but I never stopped caring about your safety.
Mark: I was blind, but today my eyes are wide open thanks to your incredible bravery.
The distant sound of police sirens began echoing down the quiet country road leading toward the private garden venue. Clara’s face pale further as the loud wails grew closer, signaling the swift end of her elaborate financial scheme. The guests watched with quiet satisfaction as two uniformed officers entered through the wrought-iron gate, walking briskly toward the altar with handcuffs ready.
