Chapter 4 of 5
A Cruel Stepmother Rips A Gold Necklace From An Orphan
The Unseen Truth
Victoria sat on the wet floor, clutching her bruised cheek as tears of anger ruined her dark eye makeup. She looked around at the faces of the wealthy guests who used to smile at her. Now, those same people were looking at her with total disgust and disappointment. They had all seen her rip the mother's necklace off a poor child, and they had seen her try to destroy the legal will of her dead husband.
Victoria: How dare you! How dare you lay a hand on me in my own house!
Julian: This was never your house, Victoria. And after tonight, you will never set foot on this property again.
Victoria: I am calling the police! I will have you arrested for assault and trespassing!
Julian: Go ahead and call them. I am sure the police will be very interested to read this official court paper while they are here.
Julian helped Lily stand up, dusting off her small coat gently. He took the ripped gold necklace from Victoria's limp hand on the floor and placed it carefully back into Lily's palm. The young girl held the broken chain tight against her chest, feeling safe for the first time in many months now that her uncle was standing right beside her. Julian turned the pages of the legal document so the whole room could see the official state stamp at the bottom of the last sheet.
He began to read the final line of the will out loud, his strong voice carrying across the entire ballroom without any effort. The text was plain and absolute, written by his brother just days before his life was cut short. The words left zero room for interpretation or fake legal claims by Victoria's expensive divorce lawyers.
Julian: 'I leave the entire estate, the family business, the bank accounts, and this mansion exclusively to my daughter, Lily. No spouse or third party shall have access to these assets until she reaches the age of adulthood, under the strict control of trustee Julian.'
A loud wave of murmurs broke out among the guests. People began nodding their heads, realizing that Victoria had been a total fraud the entire time. She had lied to the local bank, lied to the news reporters, and lied to the court just to steal a young child's future. Now, the absolute truth was out in the open for everyone to see.
Victoria tried to get up from the floor, but her knees were shaking too hard. Her expensive red gown was stained with spilled punch, making her look ridiculous instead of powerful. She looked around for her close friends in the crowd, but every single person turned their back on her, refusing to offer a hand to help her up from the messy ground.
