Chapter 5 of 6

Woman Pushes Poor Girl Out Until Secret Deed Is Revealed

A Change of Ownership

By late afternoon, news of the shocking legal takeover had spread throughout the hotel industry like wildfire. Local news reporters stood on the sidewalk outside the front doors, holding microphones and filming the entrance of the famous Grand Crest Hotel. Inside the lobby, Chloe met with the entire hotel staff, including the kitchen crew, housekeepers, front desk agents, and maintenance workers. They gathered in a wide circle around the main hall where Chloe had been shoved to the floor just hours earlier. Instead of wearing expensive formal suits, Chloe remained in her simple denim jacket, speaking to the workers with genuine warmth and respect that they had never experienced from Victoria.

Chloe: I want to promise all of you that nobody is losing their job today.

Housekeeper: What will happen to our salaries and working conditions?

Chloe: Every single employee is getting an immediate twenty percent pay raise.

Front Desk Clerk: Is that... are you really serious about that?

Chloe: You keep this building running, so you deserve to share in its success.

The room erupted into loud cheers and applause, with several older staff members crying tears of happiness. For years, Victoria had cut their health benefits, lowered their hourly pay, and threatened to fire anyone who complained about long working hours. Chloe walked through the crowd, shaking hands with each worker and asking for their names and how long they had worked at the property. Meanwhile, two uniformed police officers accompanied Victoria out of her office, carrying her personal belongings in a plain cardboard box. She had to walk past all her former employees while wearing handcuffs beneath a coat wrapped over her wrists to cover her arrest from the gathering press outside.

Victoria: You ruined my entire life in a single afternoon!

Chloe: No, Victoria, your own cruelty and greed ruined your life.

Victoria: I will fight this in court until I have nothing left!

Chloe: That is your choice, but truth always wins in the end.

Victoria was led through the glass doors and into the back of a waiting police cruiser, surrounded by flashing cameras and shouting journalists. Chloe stood near the front glass windows, watching the car pull away into the city traffic. She felt no hatred or desire for revenge in her heart, only a deep peace knowing that justice had finally been restored for her family's name. The Grand Crest Hotel was no longer a palace built on lies and arrogance; it was now a place where honest work was honored and every person who walked through its doors was treated with dignity.
